#Scotland17 Day Nineteen – The Long Goodbye

A flower for your vanity, a penny for your thoughts
About the world’s insanity and how we’ve gotten lost
Strike up the band to play a song as we go waltzing by
And fake a smile as we all say goodbye
– Jars of Clay

Final day on the Islands and, after packing my car up for an extended journey home, we went into Scalloway to look around the museum and castle. Scalloway Museum is really quite impressive for what is a very small town. It has lovely modern features, a great area for bairns (children) and loads of information about the history of the area and the wider islands. The Castle, another Earl Patrick Stewart installation, dominates the skyline of Scalloway and has lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore as well as a gripping story.

We grabbed some ice creams before saying goodbyes and heading towards the boat. A long crossing this evening/tomorrow morning to Aberdeen where the next leg of the adventure begins. Shetland has been a blast, I visited lots of new places, seen many familiar favourites and loved spending time with the gorgeous people who live there. I will miss it a lot.
