#Scotland17 Day Fifteen: Mareel’s Agents of Shetland

“Cinema is the most beautiful fraud in the world.” – Jean-Luc Godard

A quieter day today, prepping for a big final Shetland push and setting aside a bit of time to relax around the house. We headed to Lerwick Baptist Church for the morning service and grabbed a few bits from Tesco for a platter lunch. In the evening Phil and I went to see Atomic Blonde at Mareel, Shetland’s two screen cinema and arts venue located just outside the town centre. Whilst it’s not a huge venue, it was great to watch a film on the (pretty) big screen and hear every punch in high-definition sound!

Atomic Blonde is certainly a stylised movie, with a gritty 80s soundtrack, huge handheld camera action scenes and a lot of violence. Set in the lead up to the fall of the Berlin Wall, the action scenes certainly stood out as did the acting of lead Charlize Theron. I can quite believe that she cracked two teeth during filming! After the cinema, there was just time to grab a sunset picture of Lerwick before grabbing picnic provisions for tomorrow’s adventure.

Shetlandic word of the day: TÖLLIE – to quarrel
