#Scotland17 Day Eleven: Signed, seal-ed, delivered

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir

After hitting the track, for a running session before breakfast, I thought today would be a great day to see a seal. I headed to Fjarå, one of Shetland premier eateries, and more importantly a great place to spot a seal over Brewick Bay. Whilst I massively enjoyed my pancakes and chai latte no seals appeared. Sad times.

I headed back to the house for a walk around Fladdabister and the chance to take a few photos of the beautiful bay just along from the house. Just after we arrived two inquisitive seals appeared, and whilst they didn’t come close enough for detailed photos I still managed to actually get a picture where you can see them! It was also a beautifully warm walk and we had great fun watching the seals, throwing stones into the sea and taking pictures. We also saw the ruins of Fladdabister’s old lime kilns and met some of the farm animal neighbours. Great fun!

Shetlandic word of the day: SYLKIE – the seal.
