#Alba18 – The Prelude

This month’s edition of the simple things magazine talked about making the most of long car journeys and it is something I’ve really come to appreciate over the past few years. Whilst my “end” destination might be Shetland, I’ve left a week early to visit all sorts of places across the UK en route.

Tomorrow I’ll be crossing into Scotland, but for now here are some of photographic highlights of the English leg of my journey taking in Hardwick Hall, Allerthorpe Lake, Beningbrough Hall, Fountains Abbey, Hadrian’s Wall, Birdoswald Fort and the River Esk.
