#Alba18 Day 23 – Arthur’s Seat

My first Motorway in almost a month as I headed towards the capital this morning to begin the journey home.

Edingburgh has always been a city close to my heart, my great gran lived on the outskirts and we spent many holidays then and in more recent memory visiting and enjoying the wonderful contrasts this city has to offer.

It was busy! With the start of Edinburgh Tattoo (televised this evening) and the international festival fireworks show – over 30 minutes of explosions – the city was crawling with even more tourists than usual.

I hit the castle, one of the standout features of Edinburgh and a great visit. With the queue for the jewels over an hour I decided to skip that feature but enjoyed the 1 o’clock cannon and many museums that make up Edinburgh Castle.

Having walked down the Royal Mile I headed past parliament and Holyrood up Arthur’s Seat. It’s always a challenge and always provides delightful views across the city. Today it was extra tough on the legs after yesterday’s race!

Dinner at the Coley Picturehouse – by far the poshest Wetherspoons ever and an evening watching the fireworks from the B&B window! Excellent day
